I was sitting in the server room last Tuesday, listening to the familiar, rhythmic drone of the cooling fans, when I saw another “expert” forum post claiming that you need a third-party security suite to handle your privacy settings. It’s the same old nonsense—people trying to sell you a solution to a problem that’s already […]
I spent most of yesterday morning watching a junior tech try to manage three different spreadsheets and a terminal window by manually dragging the corners of every single frame. It was painful to watch. Most people think they need some bloated, third-party window manager or a triple-monitor setup to be productive, but they’re just making […]
I was sitting in the server room last Tuesday, nursing a lukewarm coffee, when I saw another one of those “optimization” threads on a forum. Some kid was swearing that a specific registry tweak would force a patch through, but I’ve seen this movie before. People spend hours chasing ghosts, following outdated advice that hasn’t […]
I spent three hours last Tuesday chasing a phantom spike in network traffic on one of our council workstations, only to find out it was just another “telemetry update” bypassing the standard settings. It’s the same old story: you search for how to control diagnostic data, click on a forum link from 2016, and copy-paste […]
I spent most of yesterday afternoon cleaning out a drawer full of dusty, sticker-laden Windows XP COA envelopes, and it reminded me just how much nonsense is still floating around online. Most people are still out there frantically searching their junk folders for a 25-digit string of characters, convinced that if they lose that specific […]
I spent twenty minutes this morning watching a “tech guru” on YouTube explain how to optimize Windows updates by disabling three different services and running a script he found on a random GitHub repo. It’s the same old cargo cult nonsense I’ve seen for nearly two decades: people copying registry tweaks from 2012 and praying […]
I spent three hours last Tuesday watching a junior tech try to “fix” a slow workstation by running a script he found on a random forum that promised to clear out system bloat. He was chasing ghosts, applying registry tweaks that haven’t mattered since the Windows 7 era, all because he had no idea what […]
I spent most of yesterday staring at a taskbar so crowded with open windows that I couldn’t even see the icons for the apps I actually needed. It’s the same old story: people think they need a triple-monitor setup or some expensive ultra-wide display to solve their workflow chaos, but they’re just throwing hardware at […]
I spent most of my morning staring at a forum thread where some kid was convinced that a specific “optimization script” from GitHub would shave seconds off his boot time. It’s the same old story: people chasing ghost numbers and treating Windows like it’s a magic box rather than a complex OS. They spend hours […]
I spent three hours last Tuesday on a call with a junior tech who was convinced he could bypass a volume activation error by running some obscure script he found on a random Reddit thread. It’s the same old story: people treat how Windows licensing works like it’s some dark magic ritual involving secret registry […]
