A software activation key is a code that is used to register or activate a programme. It is often made up of letters and digits, with hyphens being used to separate activation key components.
In the early days of software development, the activation key was the most popular way for a vendor to verify a customer’s identity. Software was delivered in boxes, on floppy discs, and later on compact discs, with an activation key that allowed the user to use the application immediately after purchase.
